Synchronised swimming is a combination of dancing, gymnastics and swimming. Synchro is performed in solos, duets or teams to music. Stockport Metro follows the competitive grades and the swimmers participate in Regional and National level competitions as well as displays.

In grade tests and competitions the swimmers are marked on technical merit (the correctness and complexity of moves) and artistic impression (how the choreography of the routine reflects the music of choice) Swimmers can hear the music underwater with the aid of the underwater speaker!

With a love of swimming and ballet dancing I joined Stockport Metro Synchro Club when I was 7 years old. I love competing in the team events as we have a great team spirit and have built strong friendship groups.?I also compete in solos and duets.

In 2017 I became 12&U Swim England National Figures Champion and also took the bronze medal in the solo event.

For 2019 I have been selected for the England Age Group Squad and I?m working hard, on land and in the water, to be an England squad member for the Youth World Championships in Slovakia in August.

For me Stockport Metro Synchro is my second home and my teammates are my second family.

Creating that sense of bond makes doing lifts and other difficult things easy because you trust them.

What do I need to join?

  • Strong swimmer: 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Front Crawl
  • Confident in deep water, happy underwater, upside down
  • A feel for the water
  • Creativity
  • Enthusiasm
  • A background in dance/gymnastics/music is a bonus
  • A nose clip and a smile!

I love Stockport Metro Synchro as I have made some absolutely amazing friends and I love being part of the team. The coaches are extremely kind and put in a lot of effort to enable us to do well and achieve our goals as synchronised swimmers.

I love taking part in the different competitions around the country with my team mates and we have such a good time!

However, the main thing to say about Stockport Metro Synchro is that it is so much fun and I just love it!!
