National Combo Cup Report – Ponds Forge, 5th July
This year, we entered 4 teams into the National Combo Cup and finished in the top 10 out of 33 clubs, earning points from each of our teams’ performances. It was a day full of outstanding routines and personal achievements!
Session 1:
We kicked things off with two teams in the 15 & Under Division 1 category. Our novice swimmers; Cara, Arianna, Poppy, Dottie, Lilly, Amelia, Emily and Mali made a stunning debut, starting with their Matilda-themed routine. The girls performed their routine with energy and flair, featuring cheeky lifts with Cara, a fantastic solo by Lilly, and a duet from Dottie and Arianna. Despite it being their first National competition, they placed an impressive 10th out of 23 teams, making all of us proud—especially Coach Darcy!
Next, the Vampire and Phoenix-themed routine took centre stage with Amber, Esmae, Annie-Mae, Chanee, Elissa, olivia, Sherlan, Thea, Abi-Rose and Holly. For many of the girls, this was their first time competing at this level, but they executed the routine with precision and skill. With standout lifts featuring Thea, a solo by Holly, and a duet by Chanee and Sherlan, the team placed 3rd—just missing out on the silver due to a few synchro errors.
Session 2:
Our Girl Power team then swam in the 15 & Under Division 2 category. Nepheli, Leanne, Harriett, Alice, Olivia, Phoebe, Sofia, Abi, Charlotte and Felicity performed their routine, which featured lifts by Harriett, a solo by Charlotte, and a duet by Phoebe and Abi and it was an absolute crowd-pleaser. The team placed 4th. Coaches and parents couldn’t help but “pay attention” and “salute” these girls for their fantastic effort!
Final Session:
The last routine of the day was the 15-18 Division 2 squad, Faith, Saffi, Lowri, Sophia, Katy, Ruby, Molly and Annie performed a Top Gun-themed routine. With high-flying lifts, including Lowri somersaulting and diving and her amazing solo section, and a fabulous duet by Ruby and Molly, this team finished the competition with a slick and flawless performance. They placed 6th overall, rounding off a great day for the club.
