Stockport Metro competed at National Age Groups in K2, Crawley on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March 2024.

The team of 7 girls, Flo Dixon, Molly Clews, Lowri Mashburn, Ruby Lloyd, Sapphire Oxborough-Sharp, Katy Senior and Sophia Butterworth competed in Youth figures on the Saturday.  Following some great results Flo qualified for Free Solo and Flo and Ruby for Free Duet. 

All routines are now scored on choreography and musical interpretation, performance and transitions making up the artistic impression score, elements such as hybrid figures and acrobatics (lifts) and synchronization. Difficulty is now declared on coaches cards and base marks awarded if the declared difficulty is not achieved.

Free Duet’s swam on the Saturday afternoon.  Ruby and Flo swam to 80’s music and had an impressive swim with an overall routine score of 55.05 and an overall score of 115.9136 when combined with their figure scores, placing them 9th.

Free Solo’s were the first event on the Sunday and Flo swam 2nd in this category to ‘Your song’.  Flo had an amazing swim and scored an fantastic 82.6688 the 5th highest solo score of the competition, placing 9th when combined with figure scores.

Free Teams were the last event of the day and the girls spent much of the day walking through and preparing for their routine, after supporting Flo in the solo event that morning.  The Irish themed routine was performed really well to the delight of supporters and coaches, with some impressive lifts by Lowri and well executed hybrid figures and fantastic synchronization the girls smiled throughout!  The routine scored an impressive 75.1500 and when combined with figure scores placed 7th.

Following her fantastic results in figures Ruby has now been invited to attend the next Youth England Development Squad Training camp.
