Stockport Metro took along 13 swimmers to the Novice Competition in Denton, most of who were competing for the first time.

The girls first competed individually in the figure event.  In the novice 8-12 years Nepheli Day – Lliadi, Leanne Lei, Holly Gradwell, Felicity Fortescue, Sherlan Ng, Abi Rose Wilson, Zoe Hayden and Dottie Roderick performed 3 figures for the judges resulting in first place for Felicity and second place for Nepheli.   

Competing in the Grade 1 section were Theodora Rees-John, Chanee Wang, Alice Johnson, Sofia Laycock and Faith Hughes.  Faith gained a bronze medal in the 13-15 age category.

Next up was the 8-15 combination team event.  Swimming to Matilda: Nepheli, Leanne, Felicity, Holly, Sherlan, Theadora, Chanee, Alice, Sofia and Faith. The girls swam a great team with a solo from Felicity and a duet from Felicity and Chanee.  The judges really enjoyed this routine and marked 13.9 for execution, 19.6 for artistic impression and 14.0 for difficulty.  The overall mark of 47.5000 gained the girls first place.
