Stockport Metro had a fabulous competition at Manchester Aquatics on 7/8th March. The competition started with 13-15 figures and 8 girls competed in the individual event from Stockport Metro. In total, there were nearly 180 girls in the 13-15 age group from across the country. The girls competed in 2 compulsory figures, Ariana and Rio and 2 figures drawn 2 days prior to the competition, Porpoise continuous spin and Seagull. Siena Oxby placed 168th, Kadie Randall 151st, Katherine Whelehan 146th, Amelie Duncalf 140th, Emily Jackson 107th, Bella Boyle 45th, Gabriella Jackson 40th and Evie Walker 1st place with a figure score of 69.9684.
The 12 & unders also competed in figures against 69 swimmers. Straight leg ballet leg, barracuda and 2 figures drawn; kip and swordfish. The 12 & unders did really well with Sonia placing 63rd, Floella Dixon 30th, Annie Lu 11th and Alice Foster 10th.
Evie and Emma Laycock(Leeds) joined up at England talent training and swam their duet as pre-swimmers to start the duet competition off in style. Alice and Flo (12 & under) qualified from their figure results to swim their Spanish based duet that afternoon and after a really good swim placed 5th.
Day 2 started off with solos of those that qualified from figure results. Evie went into her solo in a strong position after winning the 13-15 figures title. Evie scored 19.7 for execution, 25.6 for artistic impression and 19.2 for difficulty giving her a routine score of 64.5, an overall total of 134.4684 when combined with figures, earning her 2nd National title to the delight of the Stockport Metro coaches and swimmers. Following Evie’s age group, Annie Lu competed in the 12 & Under solo section and performed a lovely routine ’Butterfly’ finishing in 12th position.
Next up was the 13-15 team routine competition where swimmers, Evie, Amelie, Bella, Gabby, Siena, Kadie, Emily and Katherine really gave 100%, they performed for the judges to music from around the world, with some great lifts, great execution and synchronisation, gaining them a score of 57 and 10th position. The 12 & Under free team, Alice, Flo, Annie and Sonia, was the last event of the day and Stockport Metro the last team to swim. They finished the competition in style with a complex and artistic Egyptian routine, finishing in 5th place despite only having a team of 4 swimmers.
