We are absolutely thrilled to announce our new coaches:

Our new Head Coach will be Mandy Bell, currently Head Coach with City of Derby and formerly Lead Age Group Coach at the University of Calgary Swim Club (UCSC).

“Originally from Canada, and now having been in the UK for 3 years, I look forward to beginning the next chapter of my career with Stockport Metro! After 9 years of coaching in Canada and progressing swimmers to National Championship level at the University of Calgary Swimming Club, I moved to the City of Derby of Swimming Club. In the last three years I have had the pleasure of supporting swimmers on their way to European Junior Championships, European Para Championships and para selection at the Commonwealth Games. Personal highlights of my career include coaching for Team GB at the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival, selection for the Swim England Coach 2024 programme and being on the coaching team for the 2018/2019 Swim England Performance Squad. In November I join the Wolf Pack and am excited to continue the legacy of performance swimming at Stockport Metro!”

Mandy Bell

Anyone who watches results closely in Britain cannot but be impressed at the progress City of Derby has made of late. The team dynamic and results speak for themselves. We are so lucky that Mandy has chosen to lead Stockport?s future stars into the next decade. Mandy will begin working on November 7th.

Our new Assistant Head Coach is a former Wolfpack swimmer and coach Liam Selby. Liam won 2 European Junior silver medals in Helsinki in 2010. Liam is a multi national champion and medallist and still holds the club record for 50 fly.

Liam led Junior Development for 18 months before being head hunted by Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai, working there for 2 years. Liam returned to complete a masters degree in human nutrition and bio chemistry and is a level 3 personal trainer.

As one of the most technically gifted swimmers ever produced in Stockport he has an incredible skill set to deliver to the swimmers coaches and parents. Liam knows the programme inside out and will begin working with us immediately. To have Liam working with us is incredibly exciting and we are already looking at how we are going to make Stockport Metro even more successful in the future.

Joining Mandy and Liam is new County Squad Coach, Daniel Pepper. Daniel comes to Stockport with a wealth of swimming and coaching experience. Daniel?s swimming career was extremely successful, with him winning medals at both European (4 Golds and 1 Silver) and World (2 Golds and 2 Silvers) championships, as well being a two time finalist at the 2012 London Paralympics.

Through Dan?s work of being the Senior Coach of Marple Swimming Club,? going above and beyond in this role saw him nominated for the privilege of becoming an ambassador for the UK Sports Association, an organisation representing people with intellectual disability in sport across the UK. Daniel worked on the ?hear my voice? campaign that encourages young people with an intellectual disability to get into sport.

Daniel was also selected as coach for a small team of swimmers  representing Great Britain at the INAS European Championships for swimmers with a learning disability.

Once the coaches have time to find their feet, regular communication with all the pack will be key and at the forefront of our minds. Please bear with us in the interim and we will post regular updates on swim manager to keep you in the loop.
