Katie Matts is one of the newest members of the HPC, having joined the club in late June 2014.
Katie has had a successful start to her Stockport career, setting new club records in the Breaststroke events and being selected for the British Swimming World Class Program at Podium Potential level. Last season saw Katie make her GB Debut, swimming in Tokyo at the Japan Open, Barcelona at the Mare Nostrum Series and finally in Singapore, where she came 6th in the 200m Breaststroke final and won 2 Bronze medals in the 50 and 100m Breaststroke at the FINA World Junior Championships.  These selections came off the back of strong home performances in London at the British Championships where Katie collected her first senior medal, a silver in the 200m Breaststroke, setting a new British 16 years age group record in the process. This was in addition to winning the Gold medal at the British Summer Nationals, in the girls 16/17 200m Breaststroke and retaining her 100m Breaststroke crown for the 5th year running. Katie is currently studying for her A levels at Bridgewater School in Worsley, whilst concentrating her efforts on making the Olympic team for the 2020 Tokyo games
